Eric Gillie Ltd. is a long-established, family-run specialist horse transport company, providing professional, welfare-focused transport across the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.
Founded in 1975 by Eric & Jane Gillie the business has grown over five decades into one of the most respected names in equine transport – trusted by private owners, trainers, breeders, welfare organisations and institutions alike.
Today, the business is still family run continuing the values on which the company was built.
A second depot in County Tipperary, Ireland, is operated by Philippa Gillie, allowing the business to offer specialist cross-border and international transport with local expertise on both sides of the Irish Sea.
This continuity of family involvement ensures that experience, standards and values are passed down – not diluted – as the business grows.

Every journey is carefully planned to meet legal requirements and, where possible, exceed them. This includes appropriate rest periods, access to water and feed, calm handling, and experienced supervision throughout transport.
Our modern, bespoke fleet and purpose-built facilities allow horses to travel comfortably and, when required, rest safely during longer journeys. We understand that transport can be stressful – which is why we focus on reducing pressure, maintaining routine, and ensuring horses arrive relaxed and well cared for.

Eric Gillie Ltd. has been trusted to transport horses for the Royal Family for over 20 years, including movements to and from Balmoral, Windsor, and Hampton Court.
We were honoured to hold the Queen’s Warrant for a decade and, in our 50th anniversary year, were awarded the King’s Warrant – a recognition of the standards and care we deliver every day.
